Marriage Rebranded: Modern Misconceptions & the Unnatural Art of Loving Another Person is out today (July 1)!
And I may be biased, but here are 7 reasons I think you should buy, borrow, or steal a copy of it very soon. (preferably buy)
1) It’s not boring.
Let’s face it. Many marriage books make you want to read all of one page and say goodnight. However, I wrote this 123 page book for a reader like me with a short attention span—constantly on the verge of boredom. Even when the ideas go deep, the pace stays fast and I doesn’t venture far from entertaining (or awkward).
2) It’s written on the shoulders of giants.
I open the good, bad, & ugly of our married life to you with the hope that you might see a bit of yourself in our story. But in many ways, I simply play guide to an exploration of ideas & suggestions posed by far more experienced and wise people than I — most of whom took the time to sit with me, share life with me, and show me another piece of the beauty of this thing called marriage.
3) You want to change the analogy.
As portrayed in the book trailer—as opposed to the flame of a sparkler that eventually dies, most of us want to learn how to cultivate sustainable, healthy marriages. MR proposes that the first step is to confront the bad ideas we brought into this relationship and replace them with more timeless perspectives.
4) Marriage is hard. Who doesn’t need a little help?
This is an invitation to start over together, regardless of how broken your ideas about marriage are or are not, or how functional your marriage is or isn’t. It’s a chance to become apprentices to the original purposes and meaning of this beautiful thing called matrimony – or as I’ve come to know it, the very unnatural art of loving another person.
5) Different strokes for different folks.
The book has 3 different kinds of content for people like me whose mood often dictates what they read.
1) MINDSET deals with debunking common misconceptions.
2) BEST PRACTICES are practical ways to walk out the proposed mindset shifts.
3) CASE STUDIES document real-life experiences through interviews and stories. My hope is that when all three elements converge, a greater vision for marriage will start to come together.
6) A bonus chapter for men
7) Because these guys say you probably should.
Marriage Rebranded marks the debut of a gifted writer, astute thinker, and earnest believer. Tyler Ward asks all the right questions about marriage and comes up with compelling answers. If you want to think more deeply about marriage, more biblically, and more thoughtfully, this is the book for you.- Gary Thomas, author of Sacred Marriage and A Lifelong Love
I am not a fan of ‘marriage’ books because they tend to be formulaic and boring. Marriage Rebranded is neither. Witty, entertaining, and thoughtfully authentic, Tyler has delivered an unusually artistic conversation starter and enhancer worthy of your time and attention. -William Paul Young, author of The Shack and Crossroads
In Marriage Rebranded, Tyler Ward approaches the fearsome subject of marriage with caution, humility, and a refreshing dose of humor. Tyler Ward cleverly and clearly uncovers some of the most commonly held misconceptions of marriage. I just finished reading Marriage Rebranded and I’m blown away! Tyler Ward isn’t just teaching us how to dream, expect, and get more out of our marriage-he has also raised the bar for what an advice book can and should be.
